FAQ
Questions families ask
How much does a home safety assessment cost, and is it credited toward work?
The assessment is $249. If you go ahead with a project of $2,500 or more, we credit the full $249 toward it.
Do I have to use Sure Footing to do the work?
No. Your written plan is yours. Use it with us or with any contractor you choose.
Will Medicare pay for this?
Original Medicare generally doesn't pay for home modifications or for our assessment. Some Medicare Advantage plans include bathroom-safety benefits, and VA and NC Medicaid programs may help eligible people. See Ways to pay.
How soon can you come out?
We call within one business day to schedule, and come out as soon as we can.
Are you licensed and insured? Do you pull permits?
Plumbing and electrical work is done by NC-licensed tradespeople, and we pull permits when Cabarrus County or the City of Concord requires them. Projects over $40,000 are referred to a licensed general contractor.
What areas do you serve?
Concord, Kannapolis, Harrisburg, Mount Pleasant, Midland, the Locust area and northeast Charlotte. See the service area.
How long does a tub-to-shower conversion take?
It depends on the option you choose and on permit timing. Your written quote includes the timeline.
Grab bars or suction-cup bars?
Grab bars anchored into studs or blocking. Suction-cup bars can let go without warning and aren't made to hold a person's weight.
Can you help before a hospital discharge?
Yes. Call as soon as you know the date, and we'll work with the discharge team if you'd like. Coming home from the hospital.
Walk-in tub or shower conversion: which is safer?
For most people we see, a low-threshold shower with a seat is easier and safer to use. With a walk-in tub you sit inside while it fills and drains. We'll compare both for your situation.
Do you work with veterans and VA grants?
Yes. We provide the written plan and quote the VA asks for. The VA decides eligibility and amounts.
